Our History
Built on Generations of Trucking Experience
Sweeney Enterprises is rooted in a strong family legacy in the trucking industry that spans generations. Founders Matthew and Patrick Sweeney were inspired by Matt's grandfather, who owned and operated a successful LTL trucking company for over 50 years before closing its doors in 2018. Growing up around the business, Matthew developed a deep understanding of trucking, logistics, and what it takes to run a dependable operation.
That legacy continued through his father, Patrick, who began his career driving trucks for his father before later serving as a Connecticut State Trooper. The values of discipline, reliability, and hard work have always been at the core of the Sweeney name.
To honor that history, Sweeney Enterprises acquired and restored an R model truck to tow Matthew’s grandfather’s first brand new diesel truck—a 1969 GMC Astro—symbolizing where it all began and the foundation the business is built on today.

Matthew brings real-world experience to the industry, with over 9 years in sitework and construction, giving him a clear understanding of what contractors need when it comes to equipment transport and trucking services.
In addition, he served 6 years in the United States Marine Corps as a Heavy Equipment Operator, where he was professionally trained in operating and loading heavy machinery. This hands-on experience sets Sweeney Enterprises apart, ensuring equipment is handled with precision, safety, and expertise.
